Yet in light of that I would like to enter a few comments on "Jimmy Carter, and what I perceive to be the most poorly analyzed president in U.S. History." For now I'm just testing the system to see if this goes through. Shortly I will add some of my insight on his presidency. boomboomboomboomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11131419176369719241noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4316486182743991911.post-30645536543578225002011-02-28T15:50:56.117-05:002011-02-28T15:50:56.117-05:00You write: "Carter was an 'outsider'...You write: "Carter was an 'outsider'…, with no taint of Washington experience. He promised to deliver 'a government as good and honest and decent and compassionate ... as its people.'

Sounds like the Tea Party types, and hopefully they will be equally as unsuccessful.Kennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4316486182743991911.post-77756005958122655572011-02-26T15:47:03.789-05:002011-02-26T15:47:03.789-05:00You should have mentioned the "misery index&q...You should have mentioned the "misery index" when discussing Carter's record, since it has never been so bad again. Also the 400-day hostage crisis in Iran, because Carter pulled the rug from under Shah Palavi. A good case can be made that all our subsequent troubles in the Middle East, including the 8-year(?) Iran-Iraq war, in which Khomeini marched the flower of Iranian youth into Saddam's cannons, killing over a million of them, have flowed from Carter's rotten diplomacy in that region. Carter's "era of limits" was the wrong prescription, too, and I can still see the silly ass in his sweater asking citizens to dial down to 67 or 68. Don't forget the record U.S. gasoline price, either, because he failed to deregulate oil. Carter was easily one of the worst presidents of all time, and some think THE worst. And he is also also THE worst ex-president, being contested a bit for that title by Bill Clinton. I'll say one thing for him--behind the corn pone accent, Carter did speak pretty good English. I almost voted for the s.o.b., too, thinking nobody who made a million dollars from a peanut warehouse in Plains, GA, could not be all bad. How wrong I was!! I don't know what happened to my comment about John Adams, but will reiterate you should have mentioned his appointment of John Marshall. Apart from keeping us out of war as president, and urging command for George Washington in 1775,
the selection of Marshall was his greatest legacy-- John Adams was anything but a loser.Exguruhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01545059627227633285noreply@blogger.com
